Why Aldwick Pilates?

I am passionate about helping people overcome their limitations, get free from pain, avoid operations, get back to work or excel in the sport or hobby they love.

My lifelong fascination with movement started with ballet classes at 2 years old, which I have now studied for over 50 years and taught for over 30 years. This provided me with an invaluable understanding of how the human body works. I feel I am the Sherlock Holmes of the what, why and how of anatomy. People say to me ‘Have you got X-ray vision, how do you KNOW that?’

Body alignment with Pilates classes dictates the muscles called into play and understanding this gives you the option to make every movement safely work for you, not against you, and effect change at a deep level. I am able to pinpoint your specific problem, (cause and effect) and then translate that into easy to understand explanations. I will equip you with the knowledge so that you are in the driving seat of your body and not just a passenger. If our body breaks down we can not buy another one!!

If Covid-19 has proved anything it is the value of exercise and keeping mobile for both mental and physical health.

How will Pilates Classes help me?

Aldwick Pilates works at a deep level as it uses a safe but effective range of joint movement and muscular engagement. It’s as if you are giving them WD40 oil – think Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz! You will notice more movement and less pain after your first session. I walk you through the exercises and give you personalised corrections to ensure that you are protecting your joints tailored to your specific needs.

Aldwick Pilates addresses muscle imbalance allowing better posture, optimum movement, enabling you to strengthen your core (postural) muscles.

Aldwick Pilates is brilliant for those who want to be free from pain, work hunched over a screen, or who want to excel at their sport. You will restructure your body from grass root level as I teach you how to make each movement work for you, not against you. Tone you, but not strain you.

In a world full of stress, Pilates also allows you to fully engage your mind, breathing and body whilst exercising – which is the best destressing agent of all.
